Period 101 strives to educate individuals about period poverty. Period poverty is the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products whether it be due to cost, limited availability, or other reasons. To help individuals better understand period poverty, we made an acronym known as PERIOD.

P = Purpose.
We fight period poverty, one kit at a time. Within local communities, Period 101 advocates against and spreads awareness about period poverty.

E = Education.
The first step before fighting period poverty is learning about it. We educate high school students at public high schools in Fairfax County, Virginia to spread awareness for this issue.

R = Research.
The best way to get involved with fighting period poverty is to do research to learn about how it affects your area. Is period poverty present in your community?

I = Initiative.
Start a chapter of Period 101 in your school community! Take action and educate others while helping to end period poverty.

O = Objective.
Create goals focusing on how you can fight period poverty in your area. What issues regarding period poverty need to be addressed most in your community?

D = Drives.
Host a drive for period poverty in your community. Fundraiser drives are one of the best ways to receive period products which you can turn into period product kits with your own Period 101 chapter!
